Overview of the wide range of family-related events at LMU. This includes the variety of courses provided by LMU as well as offers from the contact and service centres as well as external partners.

Advice and networking opportunities

The LMU Women's Representative advises academic staff on issues relating to contract extensions for maternity leave and parental leave, reconciliation solutions and provides support in the event of problems within the institute or with superiors.

Die Veranstaltungen von LMU EXTRA richten sich vorrangig an Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen ab der Endphase der Promotion.

Themen und Termine der Workshops werden auf der Website der Frauenbeauftragten und über den E-Mail-Verteiler der Frauenbeauftragten bekannt gegeben.

The Advisory Service for Students Expecting or With a Child takes place in Munich for all students enrolled at the universities the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern is in charge of.

The counsellors from Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern and HSWT are available to answer questions about financing, childcare and other assistance.

Registration is not necessary - just drop by!

Further meetings can be arranged individually.

There will be interesting, age-appropriate play opportunities for children in the gym or, if the weather is nice, in the garden of the Herzerl daycare centre, and adults will have the opportunity to get to know other students and prospective students over a cup of tea or coffee in an informal atmosphere.

A number of contact persons from the various universities and the Studierendenwerk will be available to answer questions on the subject of ‘Studying with children’.

MeCuM family is aimed specifically at pregnant medical students and students with children at the LMU Faculty of Medicine. The service is intended to help answer organisational, legal and practical questions about studying medicine with a child and to provide helpful information for balancing studies and family life.


The most active platform for dialogue between medical students with children is the closed Facebook group MediEltern München.
